About Our Club

Our club was formed in 1993 and incorporated in 1995 when mountain biking (MTB) in Australia was in its infancy. Since then the club and the sport have gained popularity through advocacy and participation. The Bushrangers MTB Club is a volunteer based organisation run by enthusiasts, for the benefit of promoting and supporting mountain biking across the region.

We do regular rides all over Sunshine Coast and SEQ from Cooloola to Brisbane, in national parks, state forestries and council parks. Check out this website for more information on events, news, and for places to ride.

TreX Multi-Sport Weekend at Ewen Maddock Dam

On the 16th & 17th of April the QLD X-Triathlon Championship & Multisport Weekend will be held at the Wildeco Camp at Ewen Maddock Dam (we know the area as Ferny Forest). Further information and registration can be found on the Tre-X website > here < . On Saturday if you can find a runner and a swimmer then you can do the MTB leg as part of a team. Otherwise there's the 22km and 45km MTB XC race on Sunday. Unless you're like John who does it all himself for the dirt master title. We encourage all our members to have a go at mountain bike racing and a local race on good trails is a great way to have a go. Please note that the organisers do not cover you in case of an accident for the MTB XC race so make sure your race insurance is sorted. For the multi-sport race - Triathlon Australia coverage is needed as the MTBA cover...

27/03/2016 – Sugarbag club ride summary

Overall a good ride with a good turnout and thankfully the rain holding off until the end of the ride. Had a few people conquer their fears and succeed getting over a few of the hairier obstacles on the trails, which were then accompanied with the mandatory whooping and high fives afterwards. Unfortunately there were a couple of whoopsie daisies and I hope those riders pulled up OK the next day. Interesting events: I met a friendly fellow fatbiker wearing clipless sandals (I thought they were a myth). I accidentally did the tricky stuff because I made the mistake of following Toby and Alf. Paul wash his bike from from the back of his van - we think it was either black magic or he was actually dosing his bike in fuel. Susie's "waahoo's" actually echo of the trees for a whole 90 seconds and intimidate nearby birds. Andrew's experiment of trying to cure a big night by bike riding didn't work as well as he hoped. See you next week everyone!...

20/03/2016 – Parklands club ride summary

Only 8 intrepid souls came for Sunday's club ride at Parklands and they were treated to a memorable ride of rain, mud, slippery roots and rocks, biting insects and punctured tyres. My ride was cut short as I made a slight error with my tyre pressure on the new bike and lost all my air through a hole in the sidewall and had to walk back to car. It was a rather nice stroll though. One highlight however was Alf's ride leadership. The pre-ride briefing was loud and clear, choice of trails was good and the pace was great. Nice work indeed Alf! Keep up the good work!...

Help Janine defend her World Title!

Janine Jungfels played an instrumental part of our Women's Week activities that were successfully organised and coordinated by our Women's Advocate, Susie Hume, and our Secretary, Julie Pearson, and subsidised by us, Bushrangers MTB Club Sunshine Coast. Since we like to support our local athletes and would love to see Janine back for more activities in future we would like to ask everyone to help her defend her hard earned title in Mountain Bike Trials riding by contributing to her 'Go Fund Me' campaign....

Go G.I.R.L. Mid Week Parkies Challenge

Grey clouds were looming but some brave ladies still turned up despite their reservations. (About the trails not the weather). Tania Marks, Fiona Langfeldt & Michelle Woods had heard of "Parkies" (as it is affectionately known), particularly in the wet. It suits ladies with determination and guts! You will have a few spills but it promises to make you a better rider. That's why we love her. Parkies did live up to all that and more. We started out at Radar Hill side & started climbing almost straight away. I like to do the hard stuff early when you have energy for it! Well that’s the plan anyway. We rode past the voodoo doll and attacked road rage rainforest. Once nearly to the end, one rider noticed that they didn't have their drink bottle so it was decided (somewhat reluctantly) knowing the roots we had conquered, to go back down and find it. Fiona after wrestling with a root & taking a tumble decided to have...

2016 Annual General Meeting Summary

The club's annual general meeting was quite the success attracting 21 people including Kurt from the Sunshine Coast Council and Rob from the Sunshine Coast Trail Alliance. Club updates and discussion were informative with everyone contributing and ensuring that the continuation and expansion of the club remains top priority. This year the club will continue to focus on maintaining a variety of rides and events. Additionally we will aim to establish a new draft vision and charter to better position ourselves for future initiatives. We will build on our relationships with the Sunshine Coast Council, South East Queensland Water, the Sunshine Coast Trail Alliance, National Parks and Wildlife Services, and Queensland Sports and Recreation. Also we will continue to work with neighbouring clubs, Caloundra Off-Road Cycling Association, Sunshine Coast Touring Cycle Club, and the Noosa Trailblazers, and those clubs further abroad such as Gympie Bike Riders, Fraser Coast MTB, and Mountain Biking Bundaberg. On this note I like to remind members that they should always...

Go G.I.R.L. Coaching with Janine Jungfels

A summary of go girl coaching By Paul Hume   Janine Jungfels is an absolute gem, I watched her coach with a contagious enthusiasm for four and a half hours without a coffee stop! Even on a good day I can’t do more than two hours of work straight without the need for caffeine enhancement. She is World UCI trials champion 2015 and with luck she will be there on the top step of the podium 2016. We are so privileged to have access to her coaching, which only happened by chance conversation. We sold my sons bike to her “mum” Laurie Aves, who Janine is living with. Pretty hard not to have a good time when you’re on your bike, even harder when your being coached by the worlds best. The ladies were certainly out of their comfort zones doing “wheelies” up the path, OMG, I nearly laughed out loud each time they went past. But being the professional I am, kept my …...
