Tavis Johannsen On the 23rd of October 2009 Tavis Johannsen passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep. Tavis was born in Alice Springs in 1967. Tavis was involved in the family business for many years – industrial equipment and Mitre 10. He was also a rugby league enthusiast, playing for club Westies for many years until he got sick of knee reconstructions and changed to triathlons. Tavis married Fiona in 1996 and has two children Sophie aged 10 and Lani aged 7, who attend Stella Maris Primary School. Having moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2005 to open a Gloria Jean’s coffee shop, Tavis then opened Cycle Zone in 2008 to realise a lifelong dream to combine his business skills with his passion for bikes. Triathlon and Ironman have always been his passion, along with good coffee and his family. Well know among the cycling fraternity for his generosity and willingness to share his knowledge.
