We have a vision for a Sunshine Coast Trail that captures the spirit of all that travel on it.

Everybody’s idea of nature based tourism concept is subjective, whether it’s one hour or one month people search to find there little piece of "Remoteness" in a natural area. For some, the view from the local scenic lookout is enough to satisfy, but for the more adventurous trail and cycle touring is way of travel, were the journey becomes the vacation itself.  Active-holidaying changes the way we see our recreational tourism structure, so to the way we need to create new opportunities for local commerce.

As you may know the off-road cycling communities and parks around the country are getting more diverse with every passing year. The numbers are also growing quicker than ever realised. Wales, NZ, Europe, S.A. and North American examples have shown that providing appropriate trails off–road cycling can cater to a significant range of age groups and provide stimulus for rural communities, joining communities with a recreational thread of sorts, trail towns could replace old rail towns.  Our vision is a continuous linking of natural areas along the coastal range providing Epic trail experiences of a world class standard, when complete we could have up to 250kms of continuous dual use and multi use areas melding into one great trail for everyone to enjoy, and swapping the sedentary stools for saddles and hiking poles.

These days it’s more common to see groups of cyclist’s in the bush than equine’s or motorcycles. It may be that a fitter young demographic moving into this exciting sport that offers the best of bushwalking with more adventurous outcomes..... endorphins with views.

The drivers behind this project are firstly: health and wellbeing of the community, inclusiveness on trails, economic need and latent demand. We believe that dual-use shared trails even multi use for sections like the Noosa trail network, and fire road routes are appropriate with a sustainable design and management.

Most trail users and mountain bikers simply can't imagine a better ways to immerse themselves in the fabric of a region, to explore hidden views and environmental nuances while enjoying the satisfaction of travelling under your own power. These are experiences you cannot achieve behind the wheel of a car, a train a tour-bus, or down at the mall.

Adventure travel is at its heart is a way of connecting more authentically with the world and the natural environments around us. Mountain Biking is finally recognised as a legitimate means of travelling in the natural areas of Queensland and will become a significant contributor to our regions tourism portfolio, but only if we create a special product and amazing experience.

Let’s make a way forward for adventure tourism and include more than a “FEW”.
